At BOPP PLC, we take CSR seriously. This is in consonance with our avowed commitment to doing business in a socially responsible manner and also ecologically sustainable ways. Our CSR footprints are visible in the communities in which we operate BOPP CSR is predicated on three (3) pillars: Public Safety, Health & Wellness, Education, Economic empowerment of community people.

Public Safety, Health & Wellness

The BOPP Clinic is the preferred health centre in the entire Mpohor district. It has a well-equipped laboratory and a well-stocked Pharmacy. As a National Health Insurance accredited facility, the community people prefer this clinic for obvious reasons. The clinic is headed by a Resident Medical Officer, a Physician Assistant, a Pharmacist, Laboratory Technicians, a Midwife, Nurses and paramedical personal including an Ambulance Driver. Between 15,000 and 20,000 outpatients visit our clinic annually and those coming from the communities usually constitute more than 50%

Construction of a 5 Bed-Capacity Male Ward with Washroom Facilities for Benso Community Clinic at a total cost of GHS 146,372.00. The clinic had only 2-Bed Ward Capacity which served both Male and Female.

In 2021 the company donated male ward facility and hospital beds etc to Benso Clinic which serves the entire community.

Education

BOPP runs an educational complex which starts from Crèche to Junior High School. Our school is among the best basic schools in the region. Some of our students have been proud recipients of the Head of State Awards, and even more of them have entered various levels of tertiary educational institutions in Ghana, offering programmes ranging from Medicine, Law, Engineering, Agriculture, and other programmes.

Education - Provision of free quality basic education for children from the surrounding communities.

About 376 children from the catchment community are currently on admission at BOPP School to access quality education. This represents 39.75% of the total school population.

Tertiary Education Scholarship

Five (5) brilliant but needy students from the surrounding communities are awarded Tertiary Scholarship annually. In 2021 total amount of GHS50,946.66 was spent on community scholarship for 16 beneficiaries who are continuing Students.

Economic empowerment of community people

Our commitment to the economic empowerment of the community people is most evidenced in our oil palm Smallholder/Outgrower Schemes which enables the people to participate in our line of business – cultivating oil palm and selling their palm fruits to BOPP as their technical partner and guaranteed off-taker. The farmers benefit from the best management practices that ensures good yields and sustainable incomes. The recent introduction of the Alternative/Additional Livelihood Scheme which sets up community people into beekeeping, poultry farming, piggery, baking etc is simply iconic.
